Charles Remo Sr.
Charles P. Remo Sr., age 88, son of the late John and Elizabeth Remo, passed away at home on August 30, 2017. Born in Suffern, New York on July 31, 1929, Charles grew up in Mahwah, New Jersey and is a graduate of Mahwah grammar school and Ramsey High School. Charles joined the Air Force in 1949 during the Korean War. In 1954, he married Helen Sovak of Sloatsburg, New York. He was a lifetime member of the Sloatsburg Fire Department, where he rose to Chief. He retired from Suffern Auto Glass in 1996 and moved to Canon City, where he volunteered at Loaves and Fishes Ministries for 13 years and was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen Remo; five children, Charlene (Chris) Weber, of South Hampton Pennsylvania, Charles (Jo-Ann) Remo Jr., of Cookeville Tennessee, Cheryl (Glen) Troutt, of Stewart Florida, Peter John (Tonya) Remo, of Durham, New York, Mary-Jo (Richard) Madison, of Florence, Colorado; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.
Vigil service, 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, St. Michael Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial, 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, St. Michael Catholic Church, Reverend Jesse Perez officiating. Inurnment to follow at Lakeside Cemetery with reception following graveside at St. Michael fellowship hall.
