Susan Irene Dotts-Jackson, 61, passed away July 15, 2018 in Penrose, Colorado.
Our beloved mother and wife, was born May 20, 1957 in Byers, Colorado to Dale and Norma (Prvett) Dotts.
She attended Buyers Public High School and graduated in 1975. Continuing her education, she received her BS in Criminal Justice at Mesa State and her Masters at Regis University. She devoted 21 years to her career as a Juvenile Corrections Officer at Colorado Division Youth Services.
In her retirement, despite having Parkinson’s disease, she continued her desire to help troubled youth and became a foster parent for at risk youth. Together, with Andrew Jackson, she continued her passion for helping people by becoming a host home provider for developmentally-disabled adults.
They moved to Penrose, Colorado in 2014 and enjoyed their constantly growing farm and their love of horses and all things furry and feathery. Susan was also an avid gardener and loved her flowerbeds and vegetable gardens.
She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her husband, Andrew Jackson; her children, Nick Dotts and Patrick Bowe; and the many friends she considered family, all of whom loved being near her and will continue to carry her forever in their hearts.
Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Jean Dotts and father, Dale Oliver Dotts.
A small service will be held at Penrose Park at noon on Friday July 20th.
