Arthur Bumgarner Obituary

Arthur “KEITH” Bumgarner passed away peacefully at his beloved home at the ranch in
Guffey, on September 20th, 2025. Born in Canon City, Colorado, on July 7th, 1943, (with a
twin brother) to Arthur Oscar and Blanch Bumgarner. He spent his life on the ranch he
loved in the 4-mile area. He spent his early years working at area ranches/dud ranches.
He graduated from Cripple Creek Victor High School in 1962 and was drafted into the
Army to serve in the Vietnam conflict. After serving his two years, he came home to the
ranch, where he worked at the local quarry & various cowboy jobs. He then started working for
Park County Road and Bridge in 1971 and ended up spending 37 years maintaining the
roads out of the Guffey shop. In 1974, he was working the front door at a Guffey dance
when he met a girl, and a year later, Charlotte and Keith were married in Canon City
Colorado, and she moved to the ranch where they raised two girls together, Kirstie and
Jody. Keith was always actively involved in the girls’ activities, always there supporting
and cheering them on, and even friends of the girls ' friends started calling him dad. He loved a good
dance at the 4-mile dance hall, where he chaperoned dances for 40 years. The girls
would joke that Dad was “running for dog catcher,” making friends wherever he was.
Keith is survived by his loving wife of 50 years (he made a goal to make that
anniversary, and he kept his word) of Guffey. His daughters are Kirstie (Jason) Crawford,
Jody (David) Fear Jr. both of Canon City, Colorado three granddaughters whom he adored

Ordway and his great-nephew/grandson, Rod Hall of Sugar City. His nieces Donna
Mengal, Denise Sheldon, Caryn Tillman, and Carrie Hall. His nephews, Chuck Tillman,
Bill Shaefer, Richard Tillman, and Tod Hall, along with countless Great nieces and
